How to Choose Holiday Accomodation
It’ll come as no surprise that choosing our accomodation when we go on holiday is a crucial part of planning a successful trip. Here is my handy guide on what to look for when selecting where to stay….
We recently returned from a weeks holiday in Port Isaac Cornwall and had the privilidge of staying in the most gorgeous property Rose Cottage
A large part of what made our holiday excellent was having the perfect property to stay in.
Tip 1 - Never stay anywhere worse than your own home!
This is why I never go camping, why would you pay to stay somewhere worse than where you live?
Ok, so it is a little tongue in cheek but if you have a super king size bed at home you won’t want to be sleeping in a double bed when you are away - these details matter!
Tip 2 - Look for creature comforts
This room has a fire for rainy days (which in Cornwall you will experience!) cushions on the sofa, footstools and just out of the picture a basket of blankets. Extra details like these make the difference between a good holiday and a great one.
Tip 3 - Contact the host
Anoushka Lancaster who designed and owns Rose Cottage was always on hand to answer questions and provide information prior to our trip. Having a helpful host is essential in making your trip straightforward.
I recommend sending a test question ahead of booking (if you dont have a real one) to assess your hosts helpfulness.
Tip 4 - Consider the outside space
If you have mobility issues, small children or pets don’t forget to check what the garden offers you. Sitting in the garden with a sundowner and book is an important part of my holiday so I need to know a) there is some outside space and b) we can all enjoy it safely.
